Students who'd like me to write on their behalf in connection with applications for admission to graduate or professional schools should contact me at least a month before any relevant deadlines. To write an effective letter I'd need to know more about you than what grade you got in the course; if you were not an active participant in class, or if for other reasons I don't feel able to write a letter that would do you any good, I'll have to decline, in your own interests. If I do agree to write for you, I'd advise you to give me a copy of your college transcript and some sort of resume indicating any other relevant activities, so that I can write a bit more knowledgeably on your behalf. Also, please supply a list of schools with deadlines, along with stamped, appropriately addressed envelopes, for any materials I'll need to mail.
